25 Years Celebrated in Style!
A superb Autumn day combined with a picturesque venue, some high class polo and a bumper crowd paved the way for a fantastic 25th Anniversary of the Dinner Plain Geebung Polo!
A laid back picnic feel was the theme of the day with RM Williams Boots as far as the eye could see and the action on the field of the highest standard. In what must be one of the most even and hotly contested games in the 25 year history, the Country team staged a herculean fight back in the final chukka to finish the game in an unlikely tie. In a great show of sportsmanship, captains Ken Connley and Craig Taylor decided to share the spoils and declare the game a tie.
Whilst the polo on the field was good, it paled in comparison to the heated competition off it! The frozen chicken throwing was good, the Easter Egg Drop hotly contested and the running races of Olympic standard, but it was the Fashions on the Field that really got the competitive juices flowing. At one stage the line for entrants seemingly stretched to the front entrance of Cobungra Station and from tiny tots to Lady of the Day, the fashions were many and varied. From dresses, to flannel shirts and everything in between, the contestants had it all!
A massive thank you must go to everyone who contributed to a spectacular 25th edition of the Dinner Plain Geebung Polo. So to Mark Suhr and John Nel from Cobungra Station, the Alpine Shire, the vendors, volunteers and helpers from Dinner Plain and both the teams, THANK YOU for all of your hard work and patience in ensuring a successful event.
